Only the good die young

In the last few years, some people I know have been dying. My brother in law James
warren 42 years old died 6 months after it was discovered he had cancer. My wife's friend, Marsha Grissom, 55 years old, died of cancer. Keith Clark, a friend I searched for on facebook, 59 years old died of cancer. My brother, Shelton, 67 years old died from a disease complication.

When I was 12 years old, all their ages seemed old. Now I am 61 and they don't seem so old, in fact, they seem kind of young.

Amos 4:12 says 'prepare to meet thy God.' That is something I need to do, for I do not know when I will go. I ask God to help me to do right, treat people right, and live right.

Time marches on

Today is February 1, 2011. Its been approximately three years since my last post. So what has happened in my life since the last post?

We have moved to Atlanta, Ga. Darline is a nurse at North Fulton, Hospital in Roswell, Ga. I am at Mattress Giant in Woodstock. I worked for a large Sunroom firm that closed down 14 branches in August, 2011; Atlanta was one of them. I like the Mattress business but it is slow like many other things in this economy. Darline is in college at Chattahoocie Tech completing her RN.

Laura and Robert have given us our second grandson, Joseph who is about three months old.

My brother Shelton passed away in Jan, 2011. I officated his funeral. He had many Shrine friends and professed to be a Christian.

The Holy Spirit is stirring my heart to utilize the spiritual gifts the Lord has given me in sharing the good news of the gospel and teaching others Biblical truth.

I have a grave concern for the what I perceive to be the continued secularization of American society. The acceptance of situational ethics, watered down family values and pluralistic spiritual values are very prevalent in our society. Psalm 137 states that 'unless the Lord builds the house, they that build labor in vain.' Unless our country is built on Biblical truth and Christian values, very rough times are ahead. History teaches us that.

Those of us who know the Lord must pray for our land, share and teach Biblical truth, and seek to lead others to Christ. We cannot, we must not, throw in the towel and give up.

When good men do nothing

Someone once said that "all that is necessary for evil to prevail is when good men do nothing." That being said, at the very least I can do what the Psalmist said: "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom He has redeemed out of the hand of the enemy." So let it be known that I believe:

The 66 books of the Holy Bible are the only written Word of God on this earth.

The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are only true God and the Holy Trinity.

The only way to heaven is trusting in Jesus Christ who died as a payment for our sin and rose again on the third day, ascended into heaven, and one day will come again.

Godly people must pray that the abortion of innocent of children will cease, that people will recognize that marriage is confined to one man and one woman for one lifetime, that violence will cease, and that people will return to God through repentance and faith.

We need Godly political, educational, business, family and spiritual leaders to step up to the plate and do what is right.
